Who we are
Scout Media & Consulting is a small team of senior specialists based in Fuquay-Varina, NC, serving Raleigh and the Triangle. This policy covers scoutraleigh.com and the forms on it.
What we collect
Only what we need to talk with you and keep the site working:
- What you send us. When you fill out the contact form, we collect your name, email, and anything else you choose to share, like your phone number, business name, and a note about your project.
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you ask for our monthly website tips, we collect your email and, if you share it, your first name. You confirm by email before you are added, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Free website check. When you run the check on our site, we collect your name, your email and the web address you enter. We use them to run the check, show your results and email you the report, and our team gets a copy so we can answer questions and follow up about it. Our newsletter is a separate sign-up, so the check never adds you to it.
- How the site is used. Like most websites, we use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages people visit, which buttons they tap, roughly where visitors are, and what device they use. This is aggregate and helps us improve the site. It uses cookies.
- Basic server logs. Our host keeps standard logs (IP address, browser type, time of visit) for security and performance.
How we use it
We use your information to reply to your inquiry, do the work you have asked about, and make the site better. That is it. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it except with the service providers below who help us run the site.
The services we use
A few trusted providers process data on our behalf:
- Google for Analytics, Maps, and our Business Profile. The free website check also sends the web address you enter to Google PageSpeed Insights to measure its speed.
- WP Engine for website hosting.
- Our form and email tools to receive and respond to your messages.
- Mailchimp to send our newsletter to people who sign up for it.
Each has its own privacy terms. We only share what is needed for them to do their job.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies for analytics so we can understand how the site is used. We never use them for ads, and we never sell data. On your first visit a small notice lets you turn analytics off, and your browser's Global Privacy Control setting counts as a no without you clicking anything. You can change your choice here at any time, or turn cookies off in your browser settings. The site works fine either way.
How long we keep it
We keep contact inquiries and website checks as long as we need them to help you and for our own records, then we remove them. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe. Analytics data follows Google's standard retention settings.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will take care of it.
Security
The site runs over a secure connection (SSL), and we use reasonable measures to protect the information you send us. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, but we take it seriously.
Children
This site is for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date above.
